Lithuania’s 2014 film grants announced

The Lithuanian Film Centre has announced its 2014 film grants. A total of €2,082,368 in national funding has been allocated to 40 projects – €1,878,042 for projects in production and €204,326 to 17 currently in development.

For the first time, Lithuania has supported three minority co-productions: Sanatorium of Ashes (Latvia) by Davis Simanis, Vilnius-Inter 965 (Finland) by Mikko Kuparinen and The Man who Knew 75 Languages (Norway) by Anne Magnussen.

Other projects in production that have been supported include Kristijonas Vildžiūnas’, a film that has already garnered a positive reputation after winning the Best Pitch Award at the 2013 Baltic Event, and Escaping Sunshine by Allan van OT Andersen. Renowned Lithuanian documentary director Audrius Stonys also received funding for his new short documentary, Riga’s Boats.

Projects that have received development funding include Dancers without Defects by Ignas Jonynas, whose current film, The Gambler [+see also:
