- Der Alte Affe Angst, which premiered at the Berlinale, is released this weekend. André Hennicke and Märie Baumer star in this drama about the possibility of sex without love
After premiering at the Berlinale, the latest film by Oskar Roehler, entitled Der alte Affe Angst is out in Germany on 24 April. An earlier film by Roehler, No Place To Go won the German Film Award in 2000. Angst is set in Berlin’s claustrophobic artists’ community against a backdrop of psychoanalysis and prostitution. It is the story of an orchestra director who takes stock of his life when his father falls gravely ill. One of the questions he asks himself is whether there can be sex without love. Märie Baumer won the Bavarian Film Award in 2003 for best actress.
The film was produced by Neue Bioskop Film , co-produced by TV60 Film Munich and is distributed by X Distribution. Angst also received financial backing from the German Federal Film Board, the Bavarian Film & TV Fund and the Berlin Brandeburg Fund.
