Bankside Films banks on Freeheld, Ashby

Bankside Films, one of the UK’s leading international sales and film finance companies for independent films has a raft of films for the Cannes market. Titles in pre-production include Peter Sollett’s inspirational drama Freeheld, starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page, principal photography for which will commence in September; Tony McNamara’s comedy/romance Ashby, starring Mickey Rourke and Nat Wolff, shooting for which will commence in June; Chris Smith’s thriller Detour, the cast for which is yet to be announced and will commence filming in October; and Steven Shainberg’s comedy/romance The Big Shoe, starring Jim Sturgess and Kristen Stewart.
Completed films include Peter Chelsom’s comedy/adventure Hector and the Search
for Happiness, based on the best-selling novel by François Lelord, that boasts of a galaxy of stars including Simon Pegg, Toni Collette, Rosamund Pike, Stellan Skarsgård, Jean Reno and Christopher Plummer; and Anthony Wilcox’s romantic comedy Hello Carter, starring Charlie Cox and Jodie Whittaker.
Titles in post-production include Morgan Matthews’s comedy/drama X + Y, starring Asa Butterfield, Sally Hawkins and Rafe Spall; and Michael Petroni’s supernatural thriller Backtrack, starring Adrien Brody and Sam Neill.
Bankside will be present on the Croisette from May 14-21 and executives attending include Co-Managing Directors Hilary Davis and Phil Hunt, Head of Sales and Marketing Stephen Kelliher, Sales Executive Patrick Howson and Sales and Acquisitions Coordinator Racheal Rauch.
