Five Austrian Films

Five Austrian films and Austrian co-productions will take part in the 56th Cannes International Film Festival (14-25 May 2003), an impressive number compared to previous years. Michael Haneke will his latest film, Wolfzeit, starring Isabelle Huppert, out of competition. Virgil Widrich’s 14-minute tour of the history of cinema, from its silent beginnings right up to present-day Hollywood, Fast Film, will screen in the “Short Film” competition. The film is a collage of 65,000 images from 300 films that were brought to life using a special animation cinematography. Ruth Mader will present Stuggle in Un Certain Regard while two Austrian co-productions: Im Anfang war der Blick by Luxembourg’s Bady Minck and Pas de repos pour les braves by Alain Guiraudie will screen in Directors Fortnight.
