- CANNES 2014: The UK- and Germany-based sales agent’s slate has expanded recently with the addition of Mine
K5 International, headed by Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur, has just added Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro’s psychological thriller Mine, starring one of Hollywood’s hottest male leads, Armie Hammer (The Social Network), to its Cannes line-up.
The sales outfit with offices in the UK and Germany is kick-starting pre-sales on the title set to start filming in the Canary Islands in September for US production outfit Safran. Mine is co-directed and written by the Italian-born duo Guaglione and Resinaro (known as Fabio & Fabio), and follows Hammer as a soldier who finds himself stranded in the desert after a failed assassination mission. Tired and thirsty, he is cruelly exposed to the elements and must survive the many dangers of the desert whilst also battling the psychological toll of his treacherous situation. The writing/directing pair’s international career kicked off with the US/Italian low-budget genre movie True Love.
K5 International’s Cannes slate includes the US comedy-romance We’ll Never Have Paris by Jocelyn Towne and Simon Helberg, which will close the upcoming Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film, based on the co-directors’ real-life romantic history, stars Alfred Molina, Zachary Quinto, Jason Ritter and Maggie Grace. It has been pre-sold to Belgium (CDC United Network) and the UK (Metrodome).
Currently in production, the sci-fi movie Vice, starring Bruce Willis, was pre-sold to more than 37 territories at the Berlinale and is also on offer at Cannes. As for Dirty Weekend by Neil LaBute (Nurse Betty), the drama starring Matthew Broderick and Alice Eve is now in post-production.
