Film London Micro Market now open to films seeking completion funding

The Film London Micro Market that will run alongside the Production Finance Market (PFM) on October 16 is now encouraging applications from producers with near finished projects, which require additional investment to be finalised for delivery. It will only consider projects that require a further 20% of the total production budget. The application deadline is July 7.

Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and British Film Commission said, “I am thrilled we are able to connect filmmakers with potential completion funding – this is a rare and important opportunity for the UK’s filmmakers. I am also pleased to welcome producers and financiers from Ireland and mainland Europe to the Micro Market. We want to ensure this event is dynamic and responsive and delivers for the industry.”

Modeled on the PFM, the Micro Market aims to meet rising demand for micro and low budgeted feature projects. Supported by Creative Skillset, it will provide filmmaking teams with meetings with financiers looking to source projects budgeted at €1 million and under, alongside comprehensive training modules.

Jezz Vernon, Managing Director of Metrodome, who attended Micro Market 2013, said, “There’s sometimes more creative freedom in the lower budget sector and we found it very useful speaking to directors and producers at an early stage, where we could bring international and local market information into the projects at DNA stage. The Micro Market secured our engagement on one project for UK distribution and international sales, and we’re continuing to speak to other producers we met there.”
