Anca Damian developing In Perfect Health
by Stefan Dobroiu
- The family drama is inspired by events in the director’s family
Currently in post-production with her fourth feature, The Magic Mountain (see news), Anca Damian is already working on her next project, In Perfect Health, which received a €170,000 grant from the Romanian National Film Center in April. The €767,000 project will be produced by Damian's Aparte Film and France's Arizona Production, also involved in The Magic Mountain, with other co-producers needed.
The family drama tells the story of Andrei, a young lawyer who is devastated by the suspicious death of his father, Toma, a well-known judge. Andrei will start an investigation into his father's demise, recreating his last day and meeting Toma's young widow, Elena. Anghel Damian (Roxanne [+see also:
film profile]), the director's son, will play Andrei, while Vlad Ivanov (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days [+see also:

Damian told Cineuropa that the film was inspired by the death of her own father. “I wanted to make a film about this very personal topic, changing the characters’ ages and adding in two female roles that were not based on real people. Obviously, with such a personal topic, I wanted it to stay in the family, and Anghel became my alter ego.”
Famous for mixing different animation techniques with live action for her features (Crulic - The Path to Beyond [+see also:

Shooting is planned for May-June 2015 in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, the director's hometown. A domestic release is expected in 2016.
