- 24 projects from 13 different countries to take part in the forum due to be held in Latvia from 3-5 September 2014
The Baltic Sea Forum (BSF) for Documentaries has announced that documentary filmmakers from the Baltics, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the UK will all be making their way to Riga at the beginning of September.
The 24 selected titles will include a diverse range of projects to be presented to sales agents and commissioning editors (with confirmed attendees including DR International Sales, First Hand Films, HRT, MDR, SVT, Taskovski Films, TVP and YLE) over a three-day event. It will consist of programme workshops and project pitching sessions for those involved in selected projects, as well as open workshops (such as an event about transmedia storytelling and marketing) and screenings of documentary films for the general audience.
The team of international tutors will include Mikael Opstrup (head of training, European Documentary Network, Denmark), Tue Steen Müller (documentary film consultant, Denmark), Emma Davie (film director, professor at Edinburgh University, Scotland), Hanka Kastelicová (HBO Europe, Hungary), Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová (Film Studio, Czech Television, Czech Republic) and Thierry Detaille (Ventes-CBAWIP-Sales/Visible Film, Belgium). Film editor Phil Jandaly (Sweden) will be on hand to advise participants about the trailers for their projects.
The Baltic Sea Forum is organised by the National Film Centre of Latvia and the European Documentary Network. The Forum is supported financially by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and Creative Europe/Media Programme.
