15 films submitted for consideration as the German entry for the Oscars
Beloved Sisters by Dominik Graf

Fifteen films aiming to become the German entry for the 87th edition of the Oscars, in the category of Best Foreign Language Film, have been submitted to German Films by their German producers. An independent jury of experts will determine which one of them is the chosen one. 

The titles in question are the following :

The German entry for the Oscars is selected by a committee consisting of representatives from nine associations and institutions: the Association of German Film Producers, the German Producers Alliance / Cinema Section, the Association of German Film Exporters, the Association of German Film Distributors, the German Cinema Owners Association, the German Film Critics Association, the German Society of Cinematographers, Bundesverband der Film- und Fernsehregisseure in Deutschland e.V., the German Film Academy (represented by Sherry Hormann). 

The screenings of the selection will be held in Munich on August 26 and 27 for the jury. The official German candidate will be announced on August 27. The five finalists for the foreign Oscar will be announced on January 15. The Oscars ceremony will be held on February 22 in the Dolby Theatre, in Hollywood.
