A little over a month until it kicks off, the San Sebastian International Film Festival continues to gradually divulge the movies that will form part of the competition lineup of its 62nd edition. After hosting Alberto Rodríguez, Carlos Vermut (read more), François Ozon and Mia Hansen-Løve (read more), the competition’s Official Section is now welcoming six new movies.

(selected during Critics’ Week at Cannes 2009) remains deeply involved in genre film, even if this time it’s science fiction, to narrate a thriller set in a future in which artificial intelligence is capable of reaching and going beyond the human race. The movie stars and is produced by Antonio Banderas

One of the biggest names of this edition will be Susanne Bier, who returns to the official section in San Sebastian (the last time she participated in it was with Brothers [+see also:

. The Oscar-winner directs Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) in a drama written by Anders Thomas Jensen about two detectives and friends who are faced with a crisis situation after they intervene in a problem marital dispute.

France, on the other hand, continues to send competitors to the Kursaal in San Sebastian, with the new movie from Cédric Kahn, Wild Life [+see also:

. The director will battle it out for the Golden Shell with the story of a father who decides not to return his children to their mother after getting a divorce in which she won custody, and who is almost forced to take them underground so that the police won’t find them. 

Three other feature films have been announced for the official competition. Chilean director Cristián Jiménez, selected in the Certain Regard Section in Cannes 2011 with Bonsai [+see also:

(voice-off); Canadian Maxime Giroux will show Felix and Meira, and Argentinian Anahí Berneri will do the same with Aire libre (The Great Outdoors).
