Apart from movies staged by groups such as Pathé or StudioCanal, or titles directed by the best-known English filmmakers (Loach, Frears and so on), co-productions involving the UK and France tend to be somewhat unusual; but they now have a newcomer in their midst with the thriller Road Games. Filmed in Kent over four weeks during the summer, with an additional week in Picardie, this feature debut by Abner Pastoll, 60% produced by the UK and 40% by France, has now entered post-production. The cast includes young Irish actor Andrew Simpson (who came to fame in Notes on a Scandal [+see also:

Written by Abner Pastoll, the story recounts the misadventures of Jack, a charming young Englishman who finds himself stranded, lost in the middle of deepest France, after his suitcases are stolen. While he is hitchhiking to Calais, he struggles to communicate with the people he comes across. After he is warned that there is a serial killer on the loose, dubbed the "road kill collector", this countryside, for all its beauty and warmth, starts to instil fear in Jack...

Produced by Junyoung Jang for British outfit February Films and by Guillaume Benski for Paris-based Superbe FilmsRoad Games has partners including Backup Media (France), Movies Angels (France), Trigger Films (UK), MCMC Films (South Korea) and Music Sales Group (UK). Distribution in British and French cinemas is still being negotiated, while international sales are handled by SC Films International.
