Written by the director, the story revolves around a man called Eddie. When he falls victim to a violent attack in the street, he wrongly accuses Ahmed, the perfect fall guy, whom he saw several days before the attack. As the legal system throws everything it has at Ahmed, Eddie tries to get back on his feet with a little help from his wife and son, and thanks to his new job. But soon, Eddie becomes aware of the seriousness of his actions, and he does everything in his power to set the record straight. Even if that means losing everything…

Produced by Christine Gozlan and David Poirot for Thelma Films, Je ne suis pas un salaud was pre-purchased by Ciné+, and is benefitting from backing from the CNC’s advance on receipts, Pictanovo, and the Cinémage 9 and Sofitvciné 2 Soficas. The shoot, which is set to wrap on 30 October, will take place in and around Lille, as well as in Paris. Distribution in France and international sales will be handled by Bac Films.
