Written by Gilles Marchand (nominated for the César Award for Best Writing for Human Resources and With a Friend Like Harry) and Patrick Godeau, and based on the novel of the same name by Sébastien Japrisot, the story revolves around a woman who is the blondest, most beautiful, most short-sighted, most romantic, most deceitful, most honest, most puzzling, most stubborn and most disturbing heroine of them all. The lady in the car has never seen the sea; she is on the run from the police and tells herself over and over again that she is not crazy… And yet, what is happening to her is totally baffling. Someone broke her hand in a petrol station – just her hand, none of her money got stolen. As if to tell her that everywhere, wherever she may be, people will be capable of hurting her, bit by bit, right up until the end and that, whatever she may be running from, she will never be able to be alone, freed from the burden of what she knows, of the past and of what she is hiding…

Produced by Patrick Godeau and Karen Monluc for Paris-based outfit Waiting For Cinema, La Dame dans l'auto avec des lunettes et un fusil is co-produced by Belgian company Versus Production and France 2 Cinéma, among others. Having also received backing from Canal+ and OCS, the film will be distributed in French theatres by Wild Bunch on 22 April 2015.
