“We want the Nordic countries to have more say in the way the European Union manages its film industry,” said Ase Kleveland, the director of the Swedish Film Institute. She was speaking in Stockholm at a conference for Scandinavia’s leading film producers, actors, and directors and condemned the EU Commission’s policy never to grant more than 50 per cent of the production costs of any given film. His views were shared by Agnete G.Haaland, the chairman of the Scandinavia Actors’ guild who said that more money should be forthcoming.
