Frontières announces call for submissions for its 5th edition

The Frontières International Co-Production Market is now accepting project submissions for its second annual European edition, which will take place on 9-11 April during the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Frontières will select 24 genre film projects with a primary focus on Europe and North America. Project participants are invited to partake in a 3-day networking event with the leaders of the international genre film industry. 12 of the selected projects will be invited to participate in a live pitch session that will open the market. Other events include one-on-one meeting sessions, panels, workshops and networking cocktails, and access to the newly launched European Genre Film Market. The EGFM will include market screenings and a variety of sales opportunities for genre film professionals. The deadline for the project submissions is on 31 December 2014.

Established in 2012 at the Fantasia International Film Festival, Frontières has since developed into a biannual transatlantic circuit – taking place in Montreal in July at Fantasia, and Brussels in April at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Previous Frontières editions have featured projects from Dario Argento, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Joe Dante, Bobcat Goldthwait, Stuart Gordon, Jorge Michel Grau, Bruce McDonald, Simon Rumley, Jacob Tierney, Jovanka Vuckovic and Andrzej Zulawski. Frontières selects projects from both established and emerging filmmakers.

“We’re thrilled to return to Brussels for our second European edition,” says Lindsay Peters, Market Director. “It’s an exciting time for European genre film, and this upcoming edition of Frontières will be specifically tailored to maximize networking opportunities for genre film professionals looking to establish strong relationships across Europe and North America.”

The Frontières International Co-Production Market is a collaborative initiative between the Fantasia International Film Festival, Vision-in-Motion, and the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and is made possible thanks to the generous support of Creative Europe, la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale, Visit Brussels, Telefilm Canada and SODEC.
