17 new theatrical releases to see us through the holidays

The end of 2014 is certainly not lacking in brand-new selling points among the French movie theatres’ film listings. Indeed, even though the pace of releases may be slowing down, there will still be 17 new films on offer on Wednesday 24 December and 31 January.

Tomorrow, 24 December, Pyramide (a faithful partner for young, aspiring talents in the French film industry) is releasing Fidelio: Alice’s Journey [+see also:

Produced by Local Films, the movie, whose screenplay is written by the director together with Jean-Luc Gaget, is a no-holds-barred comedy revolving around family, remarrying and sexuality, following three girls as they pay their 60-year-old mother a visit.

31 December will see the release of the French comedy Une heure de tranquillité by Patrice Leconte, a Fidélité Films production distributed by Wild Bunch and centring on a manipulative liar of a man (Christian Clavier) who is willing to do anything in order to get a little bit of peace and quiet, and get away from his intrusive relatives.

Also hitting screens are two movies directed by talented American filmmakers, but funded by Europe. Le Pacte and The Jokers are releasing Jim Mickle’s Cold in July [+see also:
