On 8 February, this year’s Berlinale Co-Production Market will fling open its doors at Berlin’s House of Representatives, located just across from the European Film Market at Martin-Gropius-Bau. The three-day event brings together 500 producers and financiers from all over the world who are looking for new projects and potential partners. In total, 36 new feature-film projects from 28 countries will be presented.

For its 12th edition, the Berlinale Co-Production Market received a total of 331 submissions. The selection criteria include that a project must already have 30% of its budget in place, which can range from €1 million to €6.5 million. Besides the 20 new feature films from the official project selection, there are three other ways in which producers can be invited to a project pitching at this highly popular platform. For the first time, directors who have previously featured in the festival programme with an earlier film can also participate, even if they do not yet meet the selection criteria. The four selected filmmakers in accordance with this scheme are Avinash Arun from India, who won the Crystal Bear for the Generation entry Killa in 2014; Hungarian director Ádám Császi, who presented Land of Storms [+see also:
