In competition at the 65th Berlin Film Festival (5-15 February), the new films by Iranian director Jafar Panahi, cult German filmmaker Werner Herzog, France’s Benoît Jacquot and Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska (In the Name of [+see also:

) will be rubbing shoulders with those by Terrence Malick, Peter Greenaway and Andreas Dresen. The selection of Malick, Greenaway and Dresen was made public in the run-up to Christmas (read the article), and last week saw the addition of the latest work by Isabel Coixet (read the article). 

All in all, eight titles have been added to the programme of the German gathering’s main section, including one film out of competition:

- Body by Malgorzata Szumowska (Poland)
- Diary of a Chambermaid by Benoît Jacquot (France), starring Léa Seydoux and Vincent Lindon
- Victoria by Sebastian Schipper (Germany)
- Cha và con và (Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories) by Di Phan Dang (Vietnam/France/Germany/Netherlands)
- Queen of the Desert by Werner Herzog (USA), starring Nicole Kidman, James Franco and Robert Pattinson
- Taxi by Jafar Panahi (Iran)
- Yi bu zhi yao (Gone with the Bullets) by Wen Jiang (China/USA /Hong Kong)
- Mr Holmes by Bill Condon (UK), out of competition
