French international sales agent Memento Films – which has been hard at work since yesterday at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, organised in Paris by UniFrance (read the news) – has announced the addition of Body by Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska to its slate; the film will be taking part in the competition at the 65th Berlinale (5-15 February 2015). This is the third movie in a row by the filmmaker that Memento is selling, following Elles [+see also:

Produced by Nowhere sp., Body stars Janusz Gajos (who rose to fame in Three Colors: White, was nominated for the Eagle Award for Best Actor in 2000, 2002 and 2014, and won the prize in 2006), Maja Ostaszewska (who turned heads in such titles as In the Name of, Katyn [+see also:

, and was nominated for the Eagle Award for Best Actress in 2001 and 2004) and Justyna Suwala. Exploring three radically different approaches to the human body and mind in modern-day Poland, the film recounts the intertwined stories of a prosecutor who is an expert in criminal cases, his anorexic daughter and the latter’s therapist, a woman who claims to be able to communicate with people’s loved ones who have passed away.

Managed by Emilie Georges and headed by Tanja Meissner, the Memento Films team will begin their journey to the Sundance Film Festival (22 January-1 February 2015) next week, where another title from their slate will be screened in the Park City at Midnight section: the US feature Cop Car by John Watts (starring Kevin Bacon and Shea Whingham).
