Even before #Selfie [+see also:
film profile] became the most successful domestic release of 2014 (taking 102,000 admissions), director Cristina Iacob was preparing a sequel, How to Get Married in Three Days (working title). Supported by the Romanian National Film Center to the tune of €270,000, the project will start production this spring. Shooting is planned to last approximately 30 days. Iacob has already started rehearsals with the actors.
Olimpia Melinte, Crina Semciuc and Flavia Hojda make a return as the three college graduates Roxana, Yasmine and Ana. Having left behind all the emotions of their final exams and their adventures at the seaside, the girls can now focus on more important matters: a dare that will determine which of them can get married in under three days.
Zazu Film is the main production company, with Cristina Dobriţoiu serving as producer. The company will also release the comedy domestically in October. According to Iacob, the budget amounts to approximately €800,000. The screenplay is written by the director together with Maria Spirache and Tudor Potra.
The production team will soon announce new actors, with some big, popular names expected to join the cast of the first film. Iacob told Cineuropa that she wanted the sequel to be different from the original. “The characters will face completely new and more complex situations that will make them develop differently,” said the writer-director.
