- BERLIN 2015: German buyers such as Constantin, Weltkino, Koch Media, Pro-Fun and Tiberius have already acquired a raft of titles
The independent German distributor Constantin Film has bought all German-speaking rights across all media for the action drama Extortion, from 13 Films; the title stars Frank Grillo (Captain America) and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible), and will be shot in Puerto Rico in February. Writer-director Phil Volken tells the action-driven story of a doctor who is stranded with his wife and five-year-old son on an abandoned island during their holiday in the Bahamas. Two local fishermen are willing to help them – as long as they pay them one million dollars.
Meanwhile, German distribution outfit Weltkino has acquired the western By Way of Helena for German-speaking territories. Starring Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Alice Braga, the new film by Kieran Darcy-Smith (Wish You Were Here) is about a Texas Ranger in a town called Helena, where he tries to get to the bottom of some mysterious deaths.
Distributor Koch Media has sealed a deal with TrustNordisk for the Norwegian action-drama The Last King [+see also:
