. Having risen to fame with The Scent of Green Papaya (winner of the Caméra d'Or at Cannes in 1993 and the César Award for Best Debut Film in 1994), the Vietnamese filmmaker then went on to make Cyclo (winner of the Golden Lion at Venice in 1995), The Vertical Ray of the Sun (2000), I Come with the Rain (2011) and Norwegian Wood (in competition at Venice in 2010). Written by Tran Anh Hung and based on the novel L'élégance des veuves by Alice Ferney, the story begins at the end of the 19th century, as 20-year-old Valentine is getting married to Jules. At the end of the following century, his great-granddaughter is running across a bridge and ends up in the arms of the man she loves. In between these two moments, various men and women meet, fall in love and embrace during an entire century, thus fulfilling romantic destinies, and sow the seeds of a family tree, an eternity...

Produced by Christophe Rossignon and Philip Boëffard for Nord-Ouest Films, Eternité is co-produced by Pathé (which will be in charge of distribution in France and international sales), Belgian outfit Artemis Productions, France 2 Cinéma and MC Guff Ligne. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also backed by the Poitou-Charentes region, Eurimages, Bruxellimages and Wallimages. The shoot will take place in France (Paris, the Paris region and the Poitou-Charentes region) as well as in Belgium.

Nord Ouest Films is currently experiencing something of a boom period. Hoping to make the most of the 2015 Césars ceremony in a week’s time with Love at First Fight [+see also:
