As was the case for the competition (read the article), the selection process for the Un Certain Regard programme was not easy this year for Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the 68th Cannes Film Festival (13-24 May 2015). Aided by digital technology, the films hoping to bag themselves a spot are arriving later and later (some of them just two days ago) and created a huge logjam for the selection team this time around. This trend offers the selector a relatively high amount of flexibility, as he can maintain a little room for manoeuvre for last-minute assessments and keep several announcements up his sleeve for next week. This explains why only 14 out of the 18-20 titles that will eventually populate Un Certain Regard were unveiled today.
