by Mario Martone has been named Film of the Year 2015 by Italian film journalists. The SNGCI has already awarded three Nastri to the film which, this season, sensationally rose to the challenge of producing a high quality film that would also do well at the box office.

This was the message of a press release issued by the Union, announcing awards for Mario Martone, the writer of the film, producer Carlo Degli Esposti who made Leopardi together with Rai Cinema, and the extraordinary star of the film, Elio Germano, whose outstanding performance was already recognised by the SNGCI when he won the Pasinetti Award for Best Actor, a prize awarded by journalists, at Venice in 2014, where the film made its debut.

The National Directorate of the SNGCI made its announcement seizing the opportunity to talk about the upcoming 69th edition of the Nastri Awards, which will be held, as always, in Rome and Taormina: in Rome on Friday 29 May at the prestigious MAXXI Museum, the official evening with the five nominees will be held, and career prizes awarded. Then on the evening of Saturday 27 June, at the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, the award ceremony will take place, hosting, in line with tradition, the winners voted for by all journalists, with the Guglielmo Biraghi Awards going to debut films and special mentions made.

An evening which will be broadcast on 3 July on Raiuno in the form of the Cinemagazine speciale sul cinema italiano (lit. Special Cinemagazine on Italian film) by the Nastri d’Argento Awards.
