Sales agents FilmNation Entertainment have sold out international rights at the recently concluded Cannes market to Room by Lenny Abrahamson (Frank [+see also:

). Based on the award-winning book by Irish author Emma Donoghue who also adapted the screenplay, the film tells the story of Jack, a five-year-old growing up somewhere in America in a 10-by-10-foot shed he believes to be the whole world.  Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay, Joan Allen and William H Macy star.

European territories sold include Universal in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Benelux and Scandinavia; Studiocanal in the UK; Monolith in Poland; Spentzos in Greece; Sam Films in Iceland; Elite Film in Switzerland; and Blitz in Ex-Yugoslavia.

Ed Guiney of Element Pictures (Ireland) produced the film with David Gross. Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures and Jeff Arkuss and Jesse Shapira for No Trace Camping (US) are executive producers alongside Donoghue and Rose Garnett, Tessa Ross and David Kosse for Film 4. Room was filmed at Pinewood Studios (UK) and on location in Toronto, and was post-produced at Screen Scene in Dublin. The film also has the backing of Telefilm Canada, and the Irish Film Board.
