Following last year's German focus, the 69th Edinburgh International Film Festival (17-28 June), under its new artistic director, Mark Adams, has reserved a big spot for new German films: a total of 17 German films and co-productions have been programmed, the festival has announced, and six filmmakers from Germany will be coming to Edinburgh to present their films in person.

by Christian Frosch (co-produced with Austria), a love story set between 1968 and 1977, will have its international premiere in the sidebar named The Young and the Wild.

will follow up its extremely well-attended screenings at festivals in Istanbul and Ankara with a presentation in the Edinburgh sidebar called Director's Showcase, in the presence of director Oliver Hirschbiegel.

Directors Ingo Haeb, Jochen Alexander Freydank and Burhan Qurbani will also be bringing their new films to the event in person, respectively The Chambermaid Lynn, Kafka's The Burrow [+see also:

in the New Perspectives section, which is also featuring Baran bo Odar's Who Am I – No System is Safe [+see also:

Telemach Wiesinger will be present for the world premiere of his "film poem" in 21 chapters, Kaleidoscope, in the Black Box section. 

Cem Kaya's Remake, Remix, Rip-off, which traces out the golden era of popular Turkish cinema, will be shown in the documentary section. The up-and-coming filmmaker Julia Stiebert, who is studying at the HFF Munich, will be presenting A Mother's Love in the short film section. Four other shorts with German participation are on the festival programme.
