Eurimages supports four new Dutch co-productions

- New films by Dutch directors Mike de Jong, Marleen Gorris and Nicole van Kilsdonk and Iranian filmmaker Alireza Khatami are among the new Dutch co-productions co-financed by the Council of Europe fund
After meeting in Prague from 15-19 June, the Eurimages co-production fund has decided to support 31 new projects, and four Dutch films are among them (three majority productions and one minority one). Majority co-productions Laila M by Mike de Jong, Tulips, Honour, Love and a Bike by Marleen Gorris and The Day My Father Became a Bush [+see also:

film profile] by Iranian director Alireza Khatami gets €140,000. The four titles had previously also benefited from production support from the Netherlands Film Fund.
Laila M is a Topkapi Fims production written by Jan Eilander, and is being co-produced by Menuet (Belgium) and Chromosom Filmproduktion (Germany). The €155,000 from Eurimages are now added to the €200,000 previously awarded by Belgium’s VAF.
Tulips, Honour, Love and a Bike received €420,000. Written by Peter van Wijk, the film follows the journey of a woman who finds out about her roots in the south of Italy when she goes there to scatter her mother’s ashes. The Netherlands’ Fatt Productions is co-producing it, along with Draka Productions (Italy) and DCP Film and TV (Canada).
When My Father Became a Bush is a project based on a book by Joke van Leeuwen, written by Nicole van Kilsdonk (also the director) and Maureen Versprille, and is receiving €150,000 from Eurimages. The lead production company is Lemming Film, in co-production with Minds Meet (Belgium) and Nukleus Film (Croatia).
Finally, the Dutch minority co-production Oblivion Verses receives €140,000. The film is a Netherlands Film Fund and Hubert Bals Fund project. The main producer is House on Fire (France), which will work alongside co-producers Endorphine Production (Germany) and Lemming Film (the Netherlands).
