Sur quel pied danser: A musical comedy for Pauline Etienne
Actress Pauline Etienne

Yesterday saw the start of the six-week shoot for the feature debut by Paul Calori and Kostia Testud in the department of Drôme: Sur quel pied danser (lit. “Which Foot to Dance On”). The cast of this project, which is strikingly original within the landscape of French (and European) film production, as it is a musical comedy, includes Belgian actress Pauline Etienne (nominated in 2010 and 2014 for the César Award for Most Promising Actress for Silent Voices [+see also:

Written by the two directors (who made a splash in competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2008 with their short film The Silence of the Machines), the story revolves around Julie, an insecure young woman who is new in Romans, a historic city famous for its luxury shoes, where she has just begun an evaluation period at the Jacques Couture shoe workshop. When she meets Samy there, a young lorry driver who is as charming as he is untrustworthy, the shockwave of an outsourcing rumour starts to spread. The workers are revolting...

Produced by Xavier Delmas for Loin derrière l'Oural, Sur quel pied danser is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and Rhône-Alpes Cinéma. Backed by the CNC’s advance on receipts, the Gan Foundation for Cinema and the Banque Postale Images Sofica, the movie will be distributed in French theatres by Rezo, while international sales will be handled by German firm Films Boutique.

Among other films, Loin derrière l'Oural has produced all of Pascal Rabaté’s features: Wandering Streams [+see also:
