- The company is trialling an event-orientated distribution model
Starline Entertainment is teaming up with Picturehouse Cinemas, DocHouse, ICA and Home Manchester to bring Gerry Fox’s feature documentary Marc Quinn: Making Waves to UK audiences. A BFI London Film Festival selection, the film looks at the world of conceptual art by following one of its most celebrated originators, Marc Quinn, over a year of international gallery hopping and creative productivity. Alongside the film’s release on 16 July, a major solo exhibition of the artist’s work will begin on 15 July at the White Cube gallery in London. Fox and Quinn will also participate in Q&As. Starline will use the publicity generated from these events to exploit video on demand (VoD) and television markets, and for international sales, the same approach for other territories.
Starline partner and director of acquisitions Piers Nightingale said, “Gerry’s thoroughly entertaining documentary lends a unique insight into the mind of one of our most prolific and engaging artists. Marc Quinn’s forthcoming show at the White Cube provides the perfect springboard to a tailored release for art-hungry audiences, allowing us the room to exercise our unique expertise in selling separate rights directly by following with broadcast and VoD.”
In April, High Point Films & TV merged with Starline, and senior High Point executives including Nightingale and Carey Fitzgerald became part of the newly merged entity. While Starline will continue traditional sales models, there will also be a focus on different content delivery vehicles like web series and trans-media. Marc Quinn will be the first title in the company’s plans to explore an event-orientated distribution model.
