Brazil comes to London to boost film business

Selected London-based producers, distributors, sales companies and post-production executives are all set to forge business connections with ten film producers from Rio de Janeiro and other key Brazilian cities on 24 September at the London-Rio+ Production Forum, presented by Film London and the Barbican in association with the British Film Institute (BFI), Colibri Cultural, Cesnik, Quintino and Salinas, the Rio Film Commission and RioFilme. The event will provide visitors with information about the UK’s creative-sector tax reliefs, along with practical information about filming in London. London-based executives interested in attending the event have until 24 July to send an expression of interest to Film London.

The forum will also feature a case study exploring an Anglo-Brazilian co-production, presentations on the BFI’s Film Fund and international strategy, and information on the RioFilme and Rio Film Commission International Feature Film Partnership Platform, aimed at fostering new international business relationships. A four-day Brazilian film showcase at the Barbican will also be inaugurated.

Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said, “Given London’s booming, world-class film industry and Brazil’s status as a fast-developing economic powerhouse, it’s only natural that we’re looking to forge ever-stronger business relationships between our two film industries. When you couple the clear business benefits with the creativity and vibrancy of our respective countries, you’re looking at an incredibly attractive prospect.”
