In contrast to the drought being experienced by theatres in a number of European countries going into August, France is shaping up to be a bit of an oasis for cinephiles. Indeed, although French distributors have cut back on the number of films being released, 15 new films are scheduled for release tomorrow and next week. 

The six new films coming to theatres on Wednesday 5 August notably include The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun [+see also:

by Joann Sfar (see article), which is being distributed by Wild Bunch Distribution. An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Sébastien Japrisot (with screenplay by Gilles Marchand and Patrick Godeau), the third feature film of the famous cartoonist, following on from Je t’aime, moi non plus [+see also:

(which was awarded the César for Best Animated Film in 2012) stars Scottish actress Freya Mavor, French actor Benjamin Biolay, Italian actor Elio Germano and Franco-British actress Stacy Martin.
