As of August 2, Danish cinemas had registered 7.9 million admissions in 2015 (including 2.4 million for Danish films)- more than half of the 14.1 million tickets they sold in 2009, the best result since 1981.

“So we expect in the end to break two records – the attendance for local films, and the number of audiences in general,” said managing director Kim Pedersen, of the Danish Cinemas Association.

follows the Danish national football team in 1992, when they joined the European Championships in Sweden, replacing Yugoslavia – and won gold. It will open on 27 August, while 24 September is the release date for Mikkel Nørgaard’s Klovn Forever, reuniting the Christensen- Hvam comedy duo in Los Angeles.

Otherwise, US pictures have dominated the charts, and “it is a long time since we have seen so many American Films on the Top Ten list.” First Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Fifty Shades of Grey and James Wan’s Fast & Furious 7, then Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, Kyle Balda-Pierre Coffin’s Minions, and Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation.
