. With this film, she is leaning more towards portraying the generation gap between teenagers who are children of the digital era and adults who are overwhelmed by values that they do not recognise. John, Abdul, Sammy and Lina belong to the digital generation, adopting the mind-set of “everything in abundance” and “every man for himself”. They seem not to be interested by very much at all and spend most of their time in a car park, where they listen to music and try out various different drugs. The adults who surround them, whether they are their parents or their teachers, feel powerless and often do more harm than good. One day, the four teens meet Kevin, a young boy who has just got out of a detention centre for young offenders. Despite his best efforts to make amends for his past behaviour, Kevin soon falls back into his old habits, dragging the whole group down with him as he edges towards a tragic fate.

The roles of the teenagers are played by first-time actors, and they will be joined by such names as Tom Audenaert, Natali Broods, Jeroen Perceval and Jan Hammenecker in the supporting roles.

The screenplay was co-written with Nico Leunen, who is best known for his editing work on such films as The Broken Circle Breakdown [+see also:

and Lost River by Ryan Gosling. Incidentally, a few months ago, they received the Arte Prize at the Torino Film Lab. Home is produced by Prime Time, just like Troch’s previous movies, and is co-produced by Versus Production, with financial assistance from the VAF and the Film and Audiovisual Centre of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. It will be distributed in Benelux by Cinéart. The shoot, which kicked off on 5 July in the vicinity of Brussels, wrapped last week.
