Appeal by 40 directors to the government for a reform based on the French model

A group of Italian film writers has sent a letter of appeal to the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities Dario Franceschini, asking that the next legislative film reform, on which the Italian Parliament and Government is currently working, incorporate four fundamental principles inspired by the French model.

Indeed, the letter requests that a National Centre of film and audiovisuals be set up, a specifically targeted tax be applied, a policy of transparency for works funded by state resources be adopted, and definitive sanctions be instated for those who do not respect the law.

Among the signatories, who were also supported by the ANAC – The Italian Association of Film Authors, are Bernardo Bertolucci, Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone, Marco Bellocchio, Gabriele Salvatores, Wilma Labate, Francesca Archibugi, Silvio Soldini, Daniele Vicari, Gianni Amelio, and Liliana Cavani
