by Jerzy Skolimowski as the Polish representative in the race for the nominations for the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign-language Film, which will be handed out on 28 February 2016, following the final selection of the nominees on 14 January.

11 Minutes, a collage film comprising several intermingling stories, delivered at a pace akin to an action film, or even a thriller, divided audiences at the most recent Venice Film Festival, where it was revealed in competition. The Polish selection committee underlined the film’s universal aspect: “We have chosen a movie by a filmmaker who is among Poland’s best and most original. 11 Minutes is a kind of poem, and a very personal film that was made in the wake of the untimely death of the director’s son; it was penned by Jerzy Skolimowski himself and was lensed by DoP Mikolaj Lebkowski. The cast includes Andrzej Chyra, Dawid Ogrodnik, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Agata Buzek, Jan Nowicki, Piotr Glowacki, Richard Dormer and Ifi Ude. Co-produced by Poland (Skopia Film) and Ireland (Element Pictures), in conjunction with Telewizja Polska, Orange, HBO and Fundacja Tumult, with backing from the Polish Film Institute, Eurimages and the Irish Film Board, the feature will be released in Polish theatres on 23 October.
