(€370 million), British director Matthew Vaughn will direct the film adaptation of Terry Hayes’ global bestseller I Am Pilgrim. The film follows the adopted son of a wealthy American family, codenamed Pilgrim, who once headed up a secret espionage unit for US intelligence and is called out of retirement to help in an unusual investigation, but ultimately becomes caught in a terrifying race against time to save America from oblivion. Hayes (Payback) is adapting the novel for the screen and production will commence in 2016.

US studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) will produce and Vaughn will also produce and co-finance via his UK outfit Marv Films. Lloyd Braun will also produce through his US production company Whalerock Industries with Andrew Mittman as Executive Producer. 

MGM Motion Picture Group President Jonathan Glickman said, “We could not be more excited to have a consummate filmmaker like Matthew to bring I Am Pilgrim to the screen. His sensibility, coupled with Terry Hayes’ incredible story, gives us the ideal team to bring this character to the worldwide audience. 

Hayes’ novel was the publishing sensation of 2014. It has been translated into 30 languages. In Europe, it was a huge bestseller in the UK, Scandinavia, Spain, France and Holland.
