As an integral part of the 16th Arras International Film Festival (6-15 November 2015 – read the article), the fourth edition of the Arras Days will unveil seven previously unseen projects at the writing stage, which will be pitched next Saturday to a jury comprising three European professionals, and which will be duking it out for two awards (€5,000 from the City of Arras and €10,000 from the CNC).

Among the projects going head to head is The County by Icelandic director Grimur Hakonarson, whose feature debut, Rams [+see also:

, the winner of Un Certain Regard at Cannes last May, has just been nominated for the 2015 European Film Award for Best Film and is Iceland’s candidate for the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign-language Film. The project will be presented by the producer, Grimar Jonsson (of Netop Films).

The new projects by two filmmakers whose previous movies are also in the 2016 Oscars race will be presented at Arras by their directors: Slovenian filmmaker Sonja Prosenc will pitch History of Love, her second feature, following The Tree [+see also:

, two titles that were screened in the Berlinale Forum in 2014 and 2015.

Bulgarian director Svetla Tsotsorkova will also be in action at Arras with her project Sister, after she turned heads in the New Directors section of San Sebastián in September with her feature debut, Thirst [+see also:

Turkey’s Ozcan Alper, who was awarded at Locarno in 2008 with Autumn [+see also:

Also devised as a co-production platform, the Arras Days will allow producers interested in these projects to find out more about them at the event.
