The lead actresses in the new film by Ivano De Matteo, entitled La vita possibile [+see also:
film profile] (lit. “The Possible Life”), will be Margherita Buy and Valeria Golino. The shoot for this Italian-French co-production (Rodeo Drive and Barbary Film, with Rai Cinema) began a few days ago. Also featuring among the cast are Caterina Shulha, Andrea Pittorino and Bruno Todeschini.
The new opus by the director of Gli equilibristi [+see also:
film profile] and The Dinner [+see also:
interview: Ivano De Matteo
film profile] is based on a story by Valentina Ferlan, and has been adapted by Ferlan and Ivano De Matteo. La vita possibile is described as a film about hope, seizing opportunities, the strength of women, and the ability to be born and reborn. The synopsis is as follows: Anna and her son, Valerio, run away from the clutches of a man in Rome before they end up among the newspaper columns, just another news story among the many. She is crushed, in both body and spirit, while he is introverted, fragile and bristling with resentment. But “the possible life” does exist. It is necessary, and sometimes even obligatory, to rebel. Anna and Valerio know this full well, and they are convinced that they can live once again; they want it with all their heart.
La vita possibile has been recognised as being of cultural interest and has obtained support from the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism; it is also benefiting from backing from the Torino Piemonte Film Commission and consultancy services from FIP Film Investimenti Piemonte. The shoot will take place in Rome and Turin.
