Standing out among the 23 projects being presented at the co-production market of the German-French Film Meeting, organised for today and tomorrow in Marseille by Unifrance and German Films, is The Observer Effect, which is set to be the feature debut by Frédéric Planchon, a director who has built up an international reputation in the advertising sector. Written by Frédéric Planchon, Ewan Kilgour and Fiona Seres, the story unfolds over four final days, adopting several different angles as it recounts the misfortunes of Paul Benson, a specialist in quantum mathematics who becomes the target of a complex mesh of crime syndicates and economic and government organisations, after he discovers a new method of encrypting communications.

The predicted budget for The Observer Effect stands at €6.5 million, and the shoot is slated for summer 2016 in Frankfurt. Already supported by such sources as the Franco-German Co-production Mini-Treaty, the project is currently in search of an international sales agent, and theatrical distributors for France and Germany.
