Biennale College – Cinema: Four projects selected for the production phase
La soledad by Jorge Thielen Armand

The selection has been made for the four film projects that will participate in the production-support phase at the fourth Biennale College – Cinema (2015-2016). This is the initiative launched in 2012 by the Venice Film Festival to promote new talents, offering them the opportunity to work side by side with the masters in the making of micro-budget feature films.

In addition to the three projects traditionally chosen at the conclusion of the first workshop for the 12 projects selected from around the world (this year’s projects came from Canada, China, Germany, India, England, Holland, Romania, Venezuela and the United States), the Biennale also admitted, as a one-off exception, the highest-ranked Italian project, considering its particular interest and quality.

Hence, for the next phase, the selection singled out three debut works and a second work, specifically the Italian film, as listed below:

- Mukti Bhawan – Hotel Salvation (India) – Shubhashish Bhutiani (director), Sanjay Bhutiani (producer)

(Italy) – Alessandro Aronadio (director), Costanza Coldagelli (producer)
- Quimilí (Argentina) – Sofia Brockenshire (director), Verena Kuri (director, producer)
- La soledad (Venezuela) – Jorge Thielen Armand (director), Adriana Herrera (producer), Manon Ardisson (producer)

The four selected teams will participate in two more workshops, also to be held in Venice, from 3-6 December 2015, and from 10-14 January 2016. This experience will lead to the possibility of actually producing the four micro-budget feature-length films, supported by a grant of €150,000 each, which will then be presented at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in 2016.
