This is first time that Placido has decided to tackle a social issue: the film is based on true events in a French factory in the 1950s, although the story has been transposed to modern-day Italy. The topic of the film is work and rights, and is explored through the decision that the 11 women on the board of a textiles factory must take on behalf of some 200 workers: to sacrifice seven minutes of their lunch break every day to try and stop their colleagues from being fired.

7 minuti will be filmed entirely in Latina for six weeks. The film is being produced by Federica Vincenti for Goldenart Production in co-production with Manny Films (France) and Ventura Film (Switzerland) and will be distributed by Koch Media. It is expected to land in theatres in May 2016.
