The programme of the upcoming Sundance Film Festival was announced yesterday (read more), and two Dutch minority co-productions are being shown in the World Cinema Dramatic competition section.

The Dutch presence at Sundance next year includes Rinkel Film, the Amsterdam-based outfit that co-produced Mammal [+see also:

by Rebecca Daly, along with Ireland’s Fastnet Films and Luxembourg’s Les Films Fauves. Mammal is the story of a mother immersed in grief who hosts a homeless boy, which then leads to an escalation of her ex-husband’s grieving rage.

In addition, Topkapi Films co-produced Flemish director Felix van Groeningen’s highly anticipated new feature, Belgica [+see also:

. The film tells the story of two very different brothers running a bar together and portrays a brotherhood that is slowly overcome by rivalry. Belgica was also co-produced by Belgium’s Menuet and France’s Pyramide. German sales agent The Match Factory is handling international sales.

Particularly active in European and international co-productions, Topkapi has already co-produced van Groeningen’s previous film, The Broken Circle Breakdown [+see also:

The 2016 Sundance Film Festival will take place from 21-31 January in Salt Lake City, Utah.
