Berlin tops off the programme of its immense Generation section
Mellow Mud by Renars Vimba

The programme of the youth section of the 66th Berlin Film Festival (11-21 February 2016), Generation, is now complete, following the announcement of an initial batch of movies before the Christmas holidays. Out of the 2,000 films that were submitted, this huge section, which joins together two competitions, Generation 14+ and Generation Kplus, has selected 63 features and shorts representing 35 countries. Among the 15 features selected for Generation 14+, eight of which will be screened as world premieres, six as international premieres and one as a European premiere, there are five European productions (which stands as a testament to the section’s commitment to open up the minds and perspectives of young audiences). Among the 13 features that have been chosen for Generation Kplus – which will all be having their world premieres at Berlin, apart from three titles that have already been screened in their own countries – we find six European productions and two co-productions.
