(Germany’s 2016 Oscar candidate), is among the seven projects selected by the Italian-German Committee of the Fund for Co-production Development Activities between Italy and Germany (established by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the FFA – read the news), which convened in Rome on 3 March. The committee evaluated a total of 16 projects: eight were majority Italian, seven were majority German and one was a parity co-production project.

Of the seven projects selected – which will receive a total contribution of €100,000 – three are of Italian initiative, one is parity and three are of German initiative. Featuring among the latter titles is Ricciarelli’s movie The Guard, a 55% German and 45% Italian co-production being staged by Tellfilm Deutschland and La Sarraz Pictures, which has been granted €20,000 from the fund. Meanwhile, contributions to the tune of €15,000 will go to a project of Italian initiative entitled Malerba, by Toni Trupia (The Right Guy, Itaker [+see also:

), produced by IIF and Enigma Film; to the parity co-production project Samia, which does not yet have a director attached to it (Filmquadrat.dok and Indyca); and to two majority German projects, Defender of the Faith by Christoph Röhl (Lichtblick Media and Eie Film) and Stay Still by Elisa Mishto (Looks! Filmproduktion and Pmi).

Lastly, two other projects of Italian initiative will receive €10,000 each: Mare Nostrum – The Voyage of the Hope by Stefania Casini (Bizef Produzione and Tama Filmproduktion) and Sabbia by Tomaso Mannoni (Ombre Rosse Film and Made in Munich Movies).
