Eight Slovenian feature-length films will be shot in 2016 with funding support from the Slovenian Film Centre.

One of them is the new movie by Metod Pevec, the man behind the compelling and intimate documentary Home [+see also:

(featured in the Documentary Competition programme at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2015); he has received funding for his new film, Greva v Partizane (lit. “Let’s Join the Partisans”), reflecting on the Slovenian transition (produced by Vertigo). , the Slovenian submission for the Best Foreign-language Film Academy Award. The title of her upcoming film is Zgodovina Ljubezni (lit. “History of Love”), a story about the struggles of a girl as she tries to accept her mother’s death (production house Monoo). , which was selected in 2013 at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Mediterranean Film Festival in Montpellier. Also among the selected films is an adaptation of a children’s book written by Primož Suhadolčan, set to be directed by Boris PetkovičKosarkar Naj Bo! (lit. “Make Him a Basketball Player!”), which is helmed by production firm Gustav Film.

The three debut projects that have been approved for financing are the feature films Zadušnica by Matjaž Ivanišin, produced by Staragara; Ne bom več luzerka (lit. “I Will No More Be a Loser”) by Urša Menart, produced by Vertigo; and a documentary by Nina Blažin - Viktorija (production company Sever & Sever).

Among the short films that are due to be filmed in 2016 are Fishing, directed by Jan Cvitkovič and produced by Tramal Films; Fountain by Goran Vojnović (director of Chefurs Raus [+see also:

!), which is being staged by Arsmedia; and Niko by Andrej Košak (known for The State of Shock), which is being produced by Blade. In total, the Film Centre has invested in ten shorts, four of which are animations.

The director of the Slovenian Film Centre, Jožko Rutar, has also stressed that in comparison with the previous year, the Art Cinema Network in Slovenia recorded a 15% increase in Slovene and European film screenings in 2015.
