Evolution by Lucile Hadzihalilovic

The Titanic Festival is an event that has gained a great reputation for its independent spirit and its openness to a wide variety of films, and it opens the doors of its 23rd edition today in Budapest, boasting a number of screenings that will unspool until 16 April at five venues in the Hungarian capital: the Uránia Nemzeti Filmszínház, Puskin, Toldi and Sugár cinemas, and the A38 Ship.

The competition, which comprises nine features (either debut or second films) that attempt to find new approaches to tackling the classic complications that crop up in human relations, will be judged by a jury made up of Iceland’s Hrönn Marinósdóttir (director of the Reykjavik Film Festival), and Hungarian filmmakers Károly Ujj Mészáros and Gábor Reisz.
