Dust Cloth and A Monster With a Thousand Heads win at Istanbul

- Ahu Öztürk's film has won the Golden Tulip for Best Film in the national competition, while Rodrigo Plá's Venice title has triumphed in the international one

Dust Cloth and A Monster With a Thousand Heads win at Istanbul

The 35th Istanbul Film Festival (7-17 April) wrapped with Ahu Öztürk's Berlinale Forum title Dust Cloth [+see also:

and Mustafa Kara's Cold of Kalandar, a story about a poor man struggling to feed his family in a ramshackle cabin in the mountains, splitting almost all the prizes in the national competition. The former won the Golden Tulip for Best Film, as well as Best Actress, Best Screenplay and the Cineuropa Award, while the latter got Best Director, Best Actor, Best Editing and Best DoP.

The national competition jury comprised actor Tansu Biçer, author and director Ben Hopkins, actress and director Niki Karimi, author Murat Uyurkulak and distributor Torsten Frehse.

In the international competition, the Golden Tulip went to Mexico's Rodrigo Plá for A Monster With a Thousand Heads. The prize includes €20,000, split between the director and the film's Turkish distributor. The Special Jury Prize, worth €5,000, was given to Brady Corbet for The Childhood of a Leader [+see also:

The jury was chaired by producer Ewa Puszczyńska and included actress Melisa Sözen, actor Lior Ashkenazy and video artist Ali Kazma.

Romania's Anca Damian won the €30,000 Eurimages Audentia Award, aimed at promoting female directors, for The Magic Mountain [+see also:
