A record-breaking 79th session for Wallimage with seven supported projects

- Wallimage will support two Belgian feature films: Tueurs by François Troukens and Jean-François Hensgens, and Marta Bergman’s Seule à mon mariage

A record-breaking 79th session for Wallimage with seven supported projects
Actor Olivier Gourmet, who is toplining Tueurs by François Troukens and Jean-François Hensgens

Wallimage will throw its support behind Tueurs (lit. "Killers"; working title Au-dessus des lois), the first feature film written and directed by François Troukens, a well-known Belgian media personality. Formerly a figure in organised crime, Troukens is not only a scriptwriter and director, but also a comic-book author and TV host.

In Tueurs, Olivier Gourmet will star in the role of Frank Valken. Just as he is about to pull off an incredible heist, a thug from a local gang enters the fray, executing all the witnesses. Among the bodies is that of the magistrate presiding over the Tireurs Fous (Mad Gunmen) case. The Tireurs Fous gang in the story is a reference to the Brabant Killers, who terrorised Belgium during the 1980s. Tueurs, which will be co-directed by Jean-François Hensgens (DoP for Joachim Lafosse’s After Love [+see also:

The other majority Belgian film to receive support will be Brussels-based, Romanian-born director Marta Bergman’s Seule à mon mariage (lit. “Only in Marriage”). The film follows Pamela’s journey, an 18-year-old mother dreaming of leaving her village in Romania and jetting off to Belgium, where she can see herself becoming a police officer. To give herself every possible chance, she leaves her daughter and her own mother behind, and leaves to meet a Belgian man she found through an online marriage agency. Produced by Frakas, Seule à mon mariage will begin shooting on 19 September and will mainly be filmed in Belgium.

Wallimage will also be supporting the next instalment in the Billy and Buddy [+see also:

by Andrea de Sica (read the news), which is being co-produced by Tarantula. Wallimage will also be counting on the young children’s television programme Petit Poilu (co-produced by Belvision), Visionnaires – Success Story, a documentary series looking at Belgian family businesses produced by Medianext, and Zone Blanche, a fantasy police series from France, co-produced by Belgian outfit Be-Films, starring Belgian actors Renaud Rutten and Laurent Capelluto.
