) and Albert Sánchez Piñol, and is based on his book, which has been translated into almost 40 languages. It recounts the story of a man who used to be an Irish guerrilla and who accepts a job as a meteorologist. He arrives on a small island, slap bang in the middle of the ocean and miles away from any shipping routes. What’s more, strange, amphibious beings emerge from the sea at night and attack his cabin, which forces him to go and seek refuge inside the lighthouse – but the lighthouse keeper is using one of the creatures from the depths of the ocean, named Aneris, as his servant.
