The 13th edition of the Italian Screenings, organised by Istituto Luce Cinecittà, will take place in Bari from tomorrow, 29 June, to 3 July. It will see international managers and buyers come to take part in one of the most important rendezvous for Italian film-industry professionals and insiders.

Indeed, the Italian Screenings are the only annual market devoted entirely to Italian productions, and higher numbers of attendees are being recorded at this edition compared to previous years, thus confirming the need for an initiative aimed at internationalising Italian cinema. The figures speak for themselves: 130 professionals, 30 countries represented, 20 films having their world premieres, making a total of 60 screenings when added to the international premieres.

The decision to choose Bari, for the second year running, as the venue to host this meeting between Italian movies, potential distributors and possible co-producers is a response to the work undertaken by the Apulia Region and the Apulia Film Commission over the past few years – they have worked hard to found a system within the region that can support and coordinate the entire film sector, ranging from conception, through writing, production and promotion, to distribution. This upstanding model has become a source of inspiration for other sectors of the economy, even on a national level.
